My journey started with a dream to visit the iconic pyramids. In the summer of 2017, I was accepted into an internship in Egypt, Cairo, with AIESEC.
My first day in Cairo was filled with excitement, anxiety, and some cultural shock.
Even though I came from an Arabic Muslim country, I still was foreign, and my first impression was sadness because I saw a crowded city with people, but there were no colors, as I used to in my home country.
While in Egypt, I learned not to underestimate the appearance. During the time I spent in Egypt, I was fortunate to make friends and to enjoy every moment no matter how bad it can get, there is always a good thing about it.
So if you happen to be one of those who have the desire to visit Egypt, and don’t know where to start or to go, separate an ultimate guideline that you can visit while you are staying in Egypt:
If you are a female, you might want to consider to wear modest. Egypt is a Muslim country, The culture of the dress code is not as strict as in some other Muslim countries, but it still to be modest. Keep your shoulder and knees covered.
One of my top favorite places to visit was DAHAB (the meaning in Arabic is gold ). Dahab is a small town on the southeast coast of the Sinai Peninsula.
The price of things in this little town is reasonable good; I mean less expensive in comparison to other places.

Just for you to have an idea of one of the top hotels located near to the red sea, which offers a beautiful view of the hotel, cost per night between 20 to 30 euros per night ( it depends on the months ).
Besides, the beautiful sight this also a place is known for scuba diving, snorkeling.
For the Land-based activities you can try camel or horse riding , quad bike trips or going to Saint Catherine monastery which two-hours drive from DAHAB, what I did is spent the night in saint Catherine and then hiking to the top of the mountain started at midnight and was there at 4 am to see the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen in my life
The 3rd place is LUXOUR, which was once known as Thebes (the capital of Ancient Egypt) in Southern Egypt; it is the second most visited tourist city in Egypt after Cairo.
Extravagant monuments such as; Karnak Temple, The Luxor Temple, Valley of Kings, where the tomb of Tutankhamun, Valley of Queens (Queen Nefertiti’s tomb lies ), and many more are the reason for this.
One of the must include activities while in Luxor is air balloon, the prices are very affordable, and you can see the city monuments from up above.
Another thing that you can do in this city is going on a Nile boat cruise from Luxor to Aswan, which is our 4th city, it is 8Km from Luxor.
The two islands you must visit in Aswan are Elephantine Island and the Botanical Garden Island. In this garden you can find a wide variety of plantations and trees that were found naturally on the island there are also a vast number of extremely rare trees.
Elephantine Island is the biggest island there, and its history goes back to the pre-dynastic period. It was the place where ancient Egyptians first resided when they first settled in the area.
The best time to visit these two cities would be during the winter because the summer it’s boiling up to 45 c°
And last but not least, Cairo, the most famous and visited a city in Egypt. Cairo is a city that never sleeps; stores are open 24/24 there is always something to do one of my favorite things are, tour with faluka in the Nile river, khan Khalili tour, gardens, mosques, and Egyptian museum where you can see mummies and pyramids of course.
Unfortunately, the media shows us the war and where there is no peace, but this place is so magical, so peaceful, and so inspiring.
